Arts Council England 60th Anniversary Campaign

Celebratory Campaign, mass produced and distributed art objects

Arts Council 60th Campaign

Concept and production of a national celebratory campaign to mark the 60th Anniversary of Arts Council England. The campaign took the form of art commissions printed on everyday objects, which were mass-produced and widely distributed. Artist-designed bags for life were produced in partnership with Sainsbury's. The bags, by artists Michael Craig-Martin, Anya Gallaccio and Paul Morrison, resulted in a 70% increase in Bag for Life sales, successfully demonstrating the power of art to shift behaviour. A series of artist-designed travel wallets were distributed at travel interchanges nationwide. Ten artists from different disciplines responded with a collection of provocative, engaging and beautiful art works addressing issues including identity, environmentalism and the rural. Commissioned artists: Jyll Bradley, Buffy, Michael Clark, Tracey Emin, Tim Etchells, Bernardine Evaristo, Antje Schiffers, Adam Sutherland, TY and Jeanette Winterson.
